In the last few decades, nanostructuring of metals and alloys through severe plastic deformation (SPD) has been actively developing and generating great interest.
An important step in the development of this research area was the establishmentof the Institute of Physics of Advanced Materials (IPAM), headed by Director Prof. Ruslan Z. Valiev. The institute was founded in 1995 as a division (research institute) at Ufa State Aviation Technical University (USATU) in Ufa, Russia. Later, in 2007, USATU co-founded a spin-off start-up company NanoMeT Ltd. engaged in commercialization of the research results obtained earlier in IPAM USATU in laboratory conditions.
his web-site offers information on the development of technologies for SPD processing in IPAM USATU and NanoMeT Ltd ,as well as news and a review of interesting events on the topic of nanoSPDin Russia and the world.
